About BREAD

Birmingham Regional Empowerment and Development Center, Inc. (BREAD), Formerly Bethel Community Learning Center was incorporated in December 2003.  The mission and vision of the organization is to equip and empower students and their families for success while instilling and inspiring all participants with courage, confidence, and character. BREAD was awarded the Excellence in Extended Day Programming Award by the State of Alabama Department of Education.  With this award, the agency received recognition as a model program to train area after-school and community-based organization staff to conduct quality after-school and summer enrichment programming.  Through our children’s programs, we currently partner with five schools in the surrounding community and provide after-school and summer enrichment programs to more than 500 Pre-K through Eighth-grade students.
